RailayPictures by QT Luong |
| Railay (Rai Leh) is a peninsula where vertical limestone cliffs drop right onto beaches and the Andaman Sea. Those limestone cliffs cut off mainland road access, making Railay accessible only by boat. This has kept Railay less developped than other Andaman Sea resort areas. The beautiful sandy beaches are located on the West side, whereas the East side, lined up with mangroves, offers more affordable accomodation. Besides the beaches, offshore islands, jumgle, and rock climbing, an interesting sight in Railay is Tham Phra Nang, a cave shrine believed to be inhabited by the sprit of a drowned princess. |
